Attending Lylie's art class was one of the
best decisions I have made in a long time. Her way of guiding you
along, gently nudging to help you find your own creativity. She helped
me let go of the fear of making a mistake. Paint is very forgiving,
it's ok to be messy! Her wisdom and experience were so very helpful
and with things that I would not have even known to ask. A brush
stroke this way, a shadow or color change that. She's brilliant! I
would still be enrolled but sadly for me, she moved away. Thank you
Lylie for everything, I so appreciate it all! Terry
This
was my first art class that I took as an adult for painting. What a
wonderful experience it was! Lylie's classes provided a warm atmosphere
that I looked forward to attending every week. I took this art class to
help me use the creative, artistic side of my mind - something I'd
wanted to do for a long time. Lylie is an excellent teacher and a
wonderful person. Her direction and guidance in class allowed me to
develop the skills I wanted to learn. I'm so proud of my very first
painting - I can't wait to take another class! Karmen
Lylie Fisher is an exceptional teacher. I have taken many art classes but Lylie has a very gentle style and she really helps
the student see how to improve their talent. Her small class setting and fantastic
sense of humor make for a very enjoyable and introspective time spent. I
talk her up to anyone that will listen and I highly recommend her to
any adult who would like to relax and pursue long stifled desires to
create with paint or other mediums.

I
had the pleasure of taking one of Lylie Fisher's classes . I wasn't
quite sure what to expect, but I figured that to be a good thing. Lylie
engaged us in opening up and expressing our emotions through art, which
caused some major shifts in thinking for me. I ended up with a better
understanding of how to express emotion artistically, by seeing myself
through art.... and not words. It's one of those things that you have
to do for yourself in order to understand... a kinetic experience.
Lylie
has a great teaching style, and understands how to help you bring these
elements out in yourself. As it turned out, my classmate and I ended up
extending the class because we enjoyed it so much. Natalie

Fisher's art workshop was a wonderful way for me to reach deep inside
myself and pull up a whole variety of experiences and insights and then
put them into some kind of physical form. By using painting, clay
sculpting, writing and drawing, I was able to put these emotions into a
physical manifestation of where I stood at that point in my life, I
could see these things outside of myself. Margaret
Lylie
Fisher's creative workshops are a journey into one's imagination. Each
session was full of surprise and fun: expressing our mind's vision from
one of Lylie's guided meditations and portraying thoughts and emotions
using clay, paint, paper, crayons and various other medium. Corinne
RECOMMENDATIONS
Ms
Fisher initiated a series of workshops over a 10 week period,
culminating in a major exhibition in our gallery. In this program she
worked individually with each student to develop their own unique
personal expression, resulting in many break-throughs of form and
concept. We thank Lylie for her critical role in spearheading our
resurgence and would warmly recommend her creativity, imagination and
leadership. Joan

To
her month long artist's residency, Lylie Fisher brought energy,
creativity, passion and professionalism that in a word, wowed our Board
of Trustees, the staff at Weir Farm National Historical Site, and
members of the local community (students at the local elementary
school). Not only is Lylie an engaging artist, she is also a dynamic
communicator who can thoroughly capture the attention of her audience
and guide them towards new paths of understanding. Constance Evans Executive Director, Weir Farm Trust, Wilton,

Lylie
has raised students' expectations with great success. She understands
the creative process and challenges students to truly invest in their
work. Lylie sees the big picture, always, and sometimes from a most
unique perspective. She is very bright, organized, creative and fun.
She has a strong sense of herself, and does not commit to things she
does not believe she can finish well. She also creates a sense a trust
quickly in others. Rick Clarke Head of School,

I
have known Lylie Fisher since 1985. Lylie worked as an innovative
community arts advocate throughout the 1990's with local cultural
organizations. Lylie is very passionate about supporting diversity in
all art forms. In 1997 she was awarded a Fellowship from the Australia
Council (equivalent to a Guggenheim). Tracey Moffatt Artist, NYC, NY
Lylie
Fisher had an appointment as a International Visiting Artist in the Art
Department at San Francisco State University in Spring 1999, and she
continued in this role until early 2002.
Ms
Fisher is an enthusiastic artist, her involvement in this department
provided considerable support to our students. Through her example of
hard work and creative risk taking, students benefited by working along
side a practicing artist. Sylvia Walters Chair, Art Department, San Francisco State University, CA
